The Saint John Catholic Church |

Company description:: A new independent Catholic denomination has been founded by Archbishop Robert Niznik and his Chancellor, Fr. David Beaman. Both men are former Roman Catholics and were validly ordained by independent Catholic bishops in Apostolic Succession. The new denomination will remain autonomous, but both Archbishop Niznik and Fr. Beaman hope to eventually be able to enter into communion with the Roman Catholic Church.
The Canon Law of the new denomination is very similar to Roman Catholic Canon Law with some significant differences. They recognize the Holy Father in Rome as first among equals and give him all due respect in that role. However, they are not under his authority. They are under the authority of their own primate, their Archbishop, whose symbolic relationship to the Pope can be likened to that of St. John to St. Peter.
Additionally, their priests have the option to remain celibate or to marry; and their priests may use any valid form of Catholic liturgy to suit the pastoral needs of their congregations. However, choice of liturgy must be based on what is best suited to the congregations and not on personal preferences of the priests. The most common liturgies used are the Novus Ordo, the Tridentine, and the Catholic version of the Anglican.
The basis upon which the St. John Catholic Church has been founded is as follows:
In response to Jesus' question, "Who do you say I am?", Peter said that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of the living God." And Jesus said, "Upon this rock, I will build my Church."
The faith embodied in Peter and Peter's clear statement of that faith was the foundation upon which Jesus built His Church. Later, at the cross, Peter was not present. The only Apostle who had the courage to stand at the foot of the cross with Mary was John. There, Jesus gave Mary, His Mother and the Mother of the Church, to John as his Mother and gave John to her as her son. The Church is the Body of Christ. Mary is the Mother of that Body, and John is that Mother's son. Jesus described Peter as the foundation of the Church; and Jesus appointed John and Mary as those people who embodied the Church that was built upon the foundation that was embodied in Peter.
We know from the Bible that Peter and John were good friends, which is certainly consistent with the close relationship between the foundation and the Church built on the foundation. John and Peter were never in conflict. John was accepted as authoritative by the clergy and laity of the Church, just as was Peter; but John never said or did anything that would take anything away from Peter; and Peter never said or did anything that would take away from John. We believe that this is because they were both described and appointed by Jesus Christ as the fundamental parts of the Church, consisting of foundation and structure. As such, it would be perfectly right in the eyes of God that there be a Catholic denomination named St. John Catholic, just as it is right for there to be one named Roman Catholic.
Roman is the foundation that is St. Peter; and St. John is that which is built on that foundation. The people who are of the foundation are Roman Catholic; the people who are of what is built on the foundation are St. John Catholic.
